Olympic, World and PWHL Walter Cup Champion, Maddie Rooney,
To Give Keynote Address at the 2026 NMRPA State Conference!
Maddie Rooney, a native of Andover, Minnesota, and two time Olympic Medal winning ice hockey goalie, who played for the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) from 2017 – 2023, will deliver the Keynote Address at the 2026 New Mexico Recreation and Parks Association (NMRPA) State Conference that is being held in Hobbs, New Mexico, October 14-16.
Maddie, at age 20, led the USWNT to their first Olympic Gold Medal in twenty years, when she and her teammates defeated Team Canada, 3-2, in the Gold Medal Game at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. That game, which was tied at the end of regulation and overtime, came down to the very last shot in the sudden-death portion of the shootout with Team USA holding a 3-2 advantage, and Maddie facing Meghan Agosta, Team Canada’s leading scorer during the 2018 Olympics. Maddie stopped Agosta’s shot and sealed the Gold Medal victory for the USWNT!
That game would later win the ESPN ESPY Award for the Best Game of the Year in 2018.
